I went back to the newly accessible area of my favourite spot today. I was getting disappointed by the lack of good targets, I figured it would be loaded. I need to do one more lower pass with the mower to get the grass down short enough to maximize my detector's abilities.

The Barber quarter was a solid 95 on the Deus and was only about 6 inches deep. First Barber quarter of the year, and the detail is really nice. The other silver plated buckle thing has a face scratched into it, makes it a cool find. It was near the quarter and I think it's probably the same date range.

This makes silver coin #48 from this spot, and the first Barber quarter there as well. Nice quarter, I'm still looking for my first Barber anything. Buckle is kinda cool with that scrawled face.

Great find man! That "buckle thing" is a bridle rosette! Have never seen a custom made one like that....that's def the find of the day not the quarter! Please post some close-ups of both sides.

Thanks for pointing out that it's a bridal rosette, I didn't realize it! I figured it was old, and the homemade etching caught my eye. It looks to me like it might be portraying a Native American, but that might be wishful thinking haha.

Here are some better picsImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1432954228.248289.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1432954264.030275.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1432955123.993705.jpg

It's pretty wild--never seen anything like it. Kinda funny too at the same time. Awesome find.

I haven't found a barber quarter in almost two years now. I miss them. lol.

Anyway, looks like there may have been something big there like a school, considering you found 48 silver coins in that same field.

Awesome finds JC. That Barber is sharp! Congrats

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1432955513.204876.jpgThese dang Barber quarters are a tough find, I was reeealy happy to dig it!

The field pictured here is attached to "my spot", it's where the circus used to set up, and was a popular place for other outdoor activities.

48 silver coins from one property, Wow!! That's a lot from one property.

Glad to see you got your first barber quarter for the year!! One of my very first silver coins was a barber quarter and still remains my only barber quarter.

Congrats!!

When it comes to relic hunting, often times, the plough is your friend; I guess when it comes to coin hunting, the mower is your friend!
Nice find once again!

Who ever it maybe on the rosette we will never know but sure is a neat find , the pic portrays to me an African American ethnic maybe or not. That's a conversation piece for sure, vanzutphen

Nice finds JC. Unless you grid with surveyors flags, there's probably even more there!

Nice Barber, it has very nice detail to it, they are pretty coins. I love the rosette, I found one (not silver plated) brass, but I liked it as much as the coins. I like your other finds too, you need a good soaking rain then run out there with your deus!

Nice going on the Barber and the washed rosette. The etched image is really cool and a keeper for sure as it's not at all a common find.

Well now isn't that just a great barber quarter!, still on my must find list!

Nice site there J, congrats on the very nice looking Barber quarter-dollar save !:occasion14:
