This is a good time to try figure out and sort and label our finds and pass them along to out kids and grandkids some day. My wife was at an estate sale and bought this banner stone . The previous owner had been a rock hound about 20 miles away for many years but we never knew him. It doesn't look like any type of rock I see in this area so it may have came from somewhere else if he traveled.

some nice hardstone mauls for sure. is the relic with the multiple grooves the same general shape as the others? It looks more flat.

the banner wing profile looks like none I have seen, it tapers from what it looks like in the photo.

I have posted several items i thought were authentic and Grim was the first person to question my artifacts. I sent them in to be authenticated and they all came back reproductions but they said they were museum quality repo's lol.

That's me too. All I want to know is the truth and origin, Nothing more ~~ Nothing less. All I am looking for is honest opinions .

It may just be the photos, but the inside diameter of the hole in the bannerstone looks rather large to me, compared to other authentic examples I've seen.

The piece with all the ridges on it was formed by natural erosion. The high spots are veins of a harder material that is eroding at a slower rate than the softer areas between them. The high spots are most likely a Quartz like material.

That makes total sense, I couldn't imagine how the natural erosion could have occurred like that or what kind of a tool it would have been. All I could imagine is this thing sliding along under a glacier. Thank You for sharing your knowledge, I am always eager to learn.
