you can be assured members are still in charge of voting Banner,
We are just a fail safe to make sure the Banner stays a coveted place to be,
and not as simple to obtain as to have enough friends to vote for you,
find something that is already up there, or post something we all wish to find.
then on top of that decide answering questions is too much trouble.

I understand to a point , there are Circumstances where a Member may find something Awesome,
Take pics & Turn it over to a land owner or Museum, or sell it, or send it away for
conservation, etc. & requests for more Pics
would become impossible. I'm just adding this rule in order to let everyone know
growing an Attitude or new excuses when asked questions is not going to
help anyone attain Banner if it matters to them if banner doesn't matter,
no harm no foul.

also would you really want to see 7 items across the top by Members ,
Who only showed up to post Finds Then leave for 6 Months ?

my biggest fears are members of competing forums, if there are any,
coming here to get a Banner then going back to the Other forum & ignoreing us.

or someone planting a Roosie for their 7 Year old to find,
posting it here, and having enough sentimental friends
think it's so cute they vote it banner.

or a newbie making up a find, just to fit in , & getting voted Banner .

I suppose Could Happen

That can be explained away by Camera angle or the person cleaning the item before posting..

I prefer uncleaned & in-situ pics or at the very least uncleaned shots myself,
but sometimes ya gotta go with what is available at the moment & Clear.

Banners are like an accolade given by your peers. I am unsure at what it rings in at but it is nice to be able to ask and get a response. Especially if I was one of the many that voted for it.The new criteria makes sense and is only fair to the members. Keeping the standards high is what sets us apart and #1.

this is the first I have seen this ...good to know
I also agree that when asked about the find specifically,the finder should be willing to take more pics or whatever,but forcing anyone to give up details about the location ...is a big no no
part of the reason I no longer post photos on scene is for this reason alone,the landowner had a situation with a md'r not long after I posted a pic of my hammock heaven ...never again, doing this just makes ppl who were on the fence about posting not wanna post

I consider anyone who takes the time to reply as a peer, not just people who have been here longer than myself...

What is the purpose of deleting pictures in the threads whether a week old or 6 months old..?

It isn't clutter, when you delete pictures in threads you start you destroy the thread...

As I said already it destroys the thread when members delete pictures in threads they start. Lots of members look at old threads, TN is over 17 years old with a wealth of history in old threads....

No ! New Members Can Vote.

correct New Members cannot get Banner, Because We don't know if that is why they signed up. and actually found it 3 years ago.

Yes When you see it up there It Earned a Banner.

Example If we told you it takes 50 Votes to earn a Banner.
and someone saw they have 45 Votes
they may start PM'ing (spmming Members) begging for a few more votes.
Or continuously bumping their thread to the top trying to get it noticed 5 more times.

Banner voting is private to prevent this

#2. If you have a Problem with something up there. Keep your thoughts To yourself !
Or you may get Censored or worse .

#3 If you see something Banner Worthy That is cool & Different.

Since the take over a few years back the Banner system is basically a popularity contest, you have to become part of the click, like brigade, that way your mates will likely vote you up top.

have over 10 Banners & some have non

others come in one , 2, maybe 3 a day
Then I see something I think big bucks it Has to make Banner
but They don't get even one

If there is, They are doing it Via PM's

Most of the time though I can guess what will get bannered the second I see it.

But Occasionally I am surprised

It has nothing at all to do with the change of ownership, banner works the same way it has always worked.
