Bank is willing to order Ikes

If you can get Ikes, order them. They will come in a bag. You wont see these rolled. I ran into a fellow CRH at a coin shop here and got into the discussion about searching Ikes. He get them somewhere through connections but he has found quite a few Morgans, Peace and even a trade dollar. Wish I knew where to get them. The big problem is going to be dumping them. Coin machines dont take them and tellers dont want them from my experience. I had to go through the branch manager just to deposit about $50 worth at a Wells branch. A royal pain in the you know what. Good luck and let us know what you find!

I respectfully disagree. These are actually the best kind of dumps because of the slight premium they carry when sold in bulk. I don't see any reason you couldn't sell 100 for $125.

I should ask my bank to order me some ikes, you never know. They order me halves no problem... The only issue- dumping them. :BangHead:

I'd love to get that many Ikes. People on Craigslist have been giving me $1.25-1.50 for them.

If you can't manage to sell them for profit, and have trouble depositing them...pay your bills with them. One month my water bill was $110!! :evil5: Some one messes up some where. So to return the favor...I paid it with rolled havles! HA to the right?
No... :icon_scratch:
They LOVED it. The girls working at the office bought them all.
But back to the point...buy the ikes!

I wish I could find people like this. I have a bunch in my car, I use them to buy my coffee at the drive thru.

The guy in this listing on ebay is selling Ikes for a great profit every few days. So you don't dump these at banks, you dump them on the internet and make some spare cash. Even if that doesn't work to be honest, if I had unlimited Ikes they would replace most cash that I use. I am sure both myself and others would enjoy spending such large coins.

Don't think it's that easy. That's one guy and one auction. It's not like he's selling them out like hotcakes at that price. There's a sucker born every minute but how many of them will complain, not pay, or give negative feedback after they realize they overpaid. I looked at other IKE auctions and see ones for a $25 lot sell for $35. After Feebay fees (12%), you're really making a couple bucks. Also there is also a lot of auctions where people did not bid on them. I always worry about how buyers can use Feebay against the seller. I've had buyers not pay, take forever to pay, or not even give feedback which now is a pain since Paypal holds the money for 18 days in case the guy complains. Bottom line, they complain, they can give you a negative feedback. There's nothing you can do as a seller. I just recently had a guy say he didn't receive an uncirculated coin I sold. I had no choice to take the loss and give him a refund. This is the first time I've ever had an item get lost in the mail in my life. This guy is probably a liar. Block him from your bidding on your auction (antiquescollector1). Feebay sucks and has gotten so unfriendly towards the buyer. Pretty much a buyer can use negative feedback on the buyer to get what he wants. He could lie and say he didn't get it on a low value item since no one would put tracking on a low value item with razor thin Feebay fees. He would essentially be getting a free coin. What a joke Feebay is. I really want to get rid of a bunch of IKES I still have sitting around but just dealing with all of it is too much hassle nowadays. If one can find a buyer on Craigslist, more power to them.

This other guy had an auction end for $600 for $500 face in IKES with zero bidders. Like I said the coin market was better years ago in the mid 2000's. Guess the economy was better then. Go figure.

SF did you mean to say feePay is unfriendly to the seller?

LOL .. yeah.. It's ridiculous now that they hold funds for 18 days for all items sold. I understand if it's a high dollar item but if it's just a couple bucks. C-mon. Some buyers can careless about feedback leaving people without their money for weeks. What a joke. Some other venue needs to step up and take over. I'm almost tempted to start abusing the system myself and be an A-hole buyer. But however I do have some ethical standards that prevent me from doing it.

The problem is that there is no other popular format to sell items to other people in this country without paying high fees and hassles. Craigslist is good but it's only local.

Did you look at that guy's auction? He sold over 900 lots meaning he sold over 9000 Ikes. I have personally sold 2 lots of 100 Ikes for $142 and $151. I do not know what your point is about the lot listed at $600 for 500 was? Things don't sell all the time for a multitude of reasons...

My point is, it IS that easy and lots of people do it all the time with easy success.

How did you find his 900 IKE lots sold? I looked at his feedback on items sold for the last few days and there were no IKE lots there. Probably sold that many over time? Strange that a lot of his auctions are overpriced yet people still bid on them. I don't get it. Why not bid on someone's cheaper coins? I suppose I can put up an auction for $140 for $100 face. Were those people that you sold high rates for ok with it? It was a smooth transaction? Did you have it as an auction with a lower price or a buy it now? Perhaps my personal dealing with Feebay is so negative that clouds my thinking. THis guy tried to sell $100 for $140 but no bidders. These auctions influence me on whether to sell or not on Feebay. It's really hit or miss. Some years to me were better for selling IKES than others. I have sold them in $20 lots no problem years ago like 2006. I just don't see the market being the same now. Just like real estate, you determine your item's worth by prices and sales of comparable homes in your area. I'm just comparing auctions.

They only do that if they think you're a risk or new to selling in certain categories. I've been selling on eBay since 1998 and I've never had money held.

The auction page itself shows how many he's already sold. It's under his location.

In my experience, I've never had a buyer complain about paying too much, and I've only occasionally had ones who weren't happy with the item. And that was with fairly subjective things, like cameras that needed repair. Coins are nearly a sure thing as long as you make enough money to cover your fees and time. Always send with tracking (free on Priority via PayPal.)

The biggest risk in selling on eBay is getting something _else_ returned to you. Theoretically, a buyer could return a gold coin and mail you back a Twinkie, and as long as the tracking showed it was delivered PayPal would refund his money. This happens a lot with stuff like stereo equipment and tools. I'm very careful selling anything complicated or high-value because of that.

I have sold a lot of coins on ebay. For about 1 of every 200 shipments, the postal delivery gets screwed up. I always do my shipping labels through ebay, as a tracking # and delivery confirmation is provided. You can see where it is every step of the way, including when it was delivered. I had one that was supposed to go to Florida that got delivered to some place in North Carolina. Eventually got to the right place, just took about 10 days.

Thanks for giving out the info on where it said the lots sold were.

My Paypal recently has payments put on hold. I called Paypal on Monday and I have sold on Feebay since 2006. I don't have negative or even neutral ratings. They told me all sellers now will have holds despite my positive history. Your account isn't the same? Have you sold something on Ebay recently? :icon_scratch:

Also the item sold was just a $2.55 coin. There was no way I would pay for tracking on that. I mailed it with a postage stamp and dropped it in a USPS mail station box. I have done it that way before and no one ever said they didn't get it except this guy.

I have tried several times to get IKEs in bulk from any bank but no luck. They always try to give me SBAs.

Somehow I found a website that listed armored car companies by location. I found a smaller company close by and called. They had two bags at $1000 each they would sell but I had to pickup. No problem, I made appointment and picked up on a saturday.

First I got a tour of their place, they never get visitors. Pretty secure place, even the hallways and the front office walls were steel plate. Then we went into the big area where the trucks load/unload. The guard even pointed out BofA's vault ;D ;D it was a small chainlink room with two pallets of something. There was a tarp over the top.

Then I got the two bags and asked to count them so he took me into a steel plate room with a steel plate workbench to count. The count was correct but if I remember correctly there was only 2 proof ikes. But I had to buy the bags and haul them home.

I tried selling and no luck. I even contacted a company that sells slotmachines, no luck. Can't remember exactly how I got rid of them but it was for face value probably at a bank deposit.

Most of that guy's only few neutral ratings were on the IKES he sold. LOL

Kinda cool.. you got an actual tour of a coin sorting facility. I used to order them long ago and it was no problem if they had them on hand at the vault until they stopped letting me order. Sometimes they didn't any on hand and I would have to wait for a few weeks or a month. As far as selling them, I only sold ones in decent shape (EF to AU) in condition. I never sold ones that were casino coins. I would say that 60% of the $500 bag was not worthy of selling in my opinion. They were too ugly, beat up, scratch, corroded, or just plain casino coins. People will pay for the nicer coins. Casino coins No. They were just easier to sell years ago.

Hello it doesn't hurt to try , I myself get rid of them by using them to buy things at coin shows.
