Yes, Rick and I hit the mud today and felt the sting of ice in the face. Dancing in the rain..pngThat's what detecting is all about:headbang:
It's tough to follow the likes of Oxbow, Graylock, Cru and some of the other awesome finds from this weekend but here goes....:tongue3:
While rick was killing it with the coppers I hit a patch of musket balls, even got one cut in half. I got a few coppers up myself, 2 are halfpence toasties, one Nova Scotia again very toasty, and a 1901 Canadian LC. a nice old school thimble and some other goodies.
Oh yea, a 1907 half dime and a 1777 Spanish Half Reale.

It's worth sticking it out in the chill for those finds, swinging in the stalks can suck at times. WTG on the silvers.

You guys are hard core, but we see your results from hard work too...

Cool finds, over the weekend I found 3 Merc's and a very cool 1932 Canadian cent, HH.

I think that most of the posters, which includes yourself are fairly "hard core". If someone...anyone came here on any day, said "lets go tectin'" I just can't imagine what conditions there would have to be for me to say no.

I pretty much detect until the ground is literally frozen solid four feet deep. And by that point, it's usually buried under the snow. Just knowing that the 5 or 6 months of no detecting are coming soon, is enough to make me detect in any weather up to that point.

You're from Canada....you understand haha!

Your coil must be heating things up and the coins are coming to the surface for the warmth! Congrats! HH!

I've walked through knee deep ice water to get to my site, could have turned back and went home to change then walked around as I was only one minute (walking) from home... but it was my first hunt so decided to see how frozen my feet would be a while later. I could still feel them so kept swinging.

I've been out in all types of weather conditions so many times I don't even think about it anymore.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments, I don't know if it's a matter of been hard core so much as it is a complete addiction(I'm the same way with diving, just ask my wife:laughing7:). The thrill of the hunt and feeling you get when you unearth a coin or an object that hasn't been seen or held for hundreds of years. And to take just one minute to visualize what it was like back then and the hardships the people went through compared to our hardships today, it is really humbling.
Heading out again today for more discoveries, I hope every one finds what they are looking for:icon_thumleft:.
