Hi everyone

new to metal detecting and also new to the forum---and I love this forum! :headbang:

I am so happy I found all this wonderful information---and yes I became a metal detecting addict very quickly.

I bought a Bounty Hunter LoneStar as my first and am already thinking of upgrading :laughing7:

It does find me coins, etc. I like to beach hunt on vacations.

BUT I went to a playground today after reading tons of posts on this forum and NOTHING.
I could not dig in the packed down mulch...it was awful and the Carolina red clay does not help when digging also. I had hits but the ground was insane to handle with my little plastic shovel I use in the sand.

So my friend and I are heading to her creek in the backlot cow pasture and trying to find some gold---well ya never know---haha She has a detector also and are going to start to learn the signals etc better...experiment time.

I hope to really start hitting some finds....we shall see but again I want to say I just love reading about people's adventures and finds. Very cool

Welcome i to live in S.C. Carolina and i know about the clay.
Good luck on your finds.

Welcome to T-Net ..This is a super forum LOTS of info.& knowledge here..We all have hunts like youve had..Seek & you Shall find ..Good Hunting :icon_sunny:

Weclome. If you need help getting started or learning the ropes, I am with the Metal Detecting Association of the Carolinas (www.mdacclub.org) if your in or close to Charlotte. If not, I have several contacts throughout the Carolinas that I am sure would not mind helping a new addict :laughing7:

S.C. here too. It's easy to get signals in tot lots that have been under the ground before they put the woodchips on top of them and they can be very hard to find. This is the first I've heard about the association but I'll certainly check it out.

Welcome!
keep at it, we all have our days,
Beginners luck is with you,
odds are you will be posting a Super Find shortly.
HH & Great Digs!

The finds will come.

You'll need to ditch the plastic digger right away, get a decent (metal) gardening type trowel from any hardware store. You probably bend and break some of those too.

Welcome !

I'll say No Finds is Bad Finds :D

Sure Glad I Don't have that clay up here.

Good Luck Next TIme & Find Plenty
of Gold to Show Us

Jeff

cool nc-joe---I will be popping over to that NC site definitely

and thanks to everyone for a great welcome and hopefully I will be detecting like a pro soon :tongue3:

Welcome aboard!

Keep at it. You never know what your coil may pass over. :icon_thumright:

I've had some really cool finds in kids playgrounds.
Try checking out on-line websites, like the ones at
the top of this page for the proper digging tools . . .
that way you'll be far less frustrated next time out!

Cheers, :hello:

stay with it and don't get discouraged. I didn't find crap, or should I say I found ALL crap for the first month. Then I hit my first coin.....suddenly it all came together, I learned where to hunt, how to hunt, when to hunt. Throw in an uncle who seems to know everywhere that people used to gather and I was off to the races. You'll get there. Best of luck, can't wait to see your finds!

thanks again everyone

I will indeed check out proper digging tools....never thought to look lol

and yes, I too am wracking my brain for areas close by with tons of people gathering. I will think of some good hunt sites I am sure :laughing9:
