I haven't posted nor metal detected in a while as I have been dealing with multiple health issues as of late and I received a disturbing phone call today from my doctor about my 1st ever "C" word diagnosis with surgery coming soon.

So I thought I would hit the beach to calm & clear my head with some detecting time tonight and I was rewarded with lots 'o stuff including my 1st ever heavy necklace with 18k markings!

I was using my new 15" Nox coil along with my new, storm trooper looking, Eisenhower headphones and they worked great & brought me some luck!

Found that beauty in the Great Lakes shallow surf & I couldn't believe my eyes when I scooped up that necklace! 2 feet in length & 80 grams on the scale.

It has a religious medallion which hopefully means good luck on my journey to being a cancer survivor!

All the best of luck to all of you!

Congrats on your find and good luck with your health issue !
What is the yellow tape on your coil for ?

I think I found the area you were pointing out. My eyes are not as good as they used to be, but I believe I found the soldered spot, near the bottom of the "jump" ring, around the 7 o'clock area. It looks good to me, but I am taking it to a jeweler for the final say. Thanks again for all of your help, I always learn something new on this site, it's a great resource thanks to all of you.

It appears to be soldered... now... they have caught on to this simple "tell" and make them soldered and marked etc etc etc.
The look is off to me from here but that could just be the photo quality... lighting.. etc.

So..... with all that babble the only way your going to definitively be able to tell 100% is to take to a pawn shop or jeweler and ask for it to be tested.
This would be the quickest and easiest way unless you plan on ordering your own testing solutions to try and do it yourself.
With all this thus far... I am not trying to down your find in any way... in fact i want it to be real... but i also add my skills when i can / able / want to / to the table here.
So ... best of luck and please post up the results... i for one am curious to know as well.

PS.... IF NOT soldered... this is a MAJOR red flag... but again not an end all... but not heading in the good direction.
Real gold is soldered nearly 100% of the time.... after all... it is gold. heh

The C word is never good but they came a long way with treatment so jump through the hoops and you’ll be fine.
They call it “ the new normal “.
I’ve been 10 years out and kinda getting used to the new normal.
