Detected this weekend in my backyard. I live just outside of Baltimore. Haven't found much in the backyard and haven't detected for awhile. I came up with a bunch of buttons. One of them looks like it says W.Willis Orange Gilt. The bigger buttons are especially thin. And one of the large buttons has small little spots that look like they were pounded into the surface.

If anyone has any thoughts on the buttons I'd love to hear it.

You've got some oldies there, likely around 1800. Some or all appear to be British. There may be other interesting British colonial era relics hiding there too.

All were within 20 feet of each other. Curious what else might be there.

nice assortment of buttons, in your backyard no less, wtg

Cool buttons. The backmark on the first one is 'W. WALLIS' for the Birmingham, England maker William Wallis, in operation from the late 1790s to c.1828.

Wallis made a lot of American naval buttons in the early part of the 19th Century.
