Back From DIV (Diggin' in Virginia) and LOTS of CIV WAR items; U.S. Plate, etc.

Hello to all my friends out there in TreasureNet land. These are my finds from DIV this past weekend and I got to tell you it was a great time and was a chance to meet up with old friends and make some new ones. Todd and Dave Cooper were two of those. Thanks guys for the hospitality! The belt plate was found at the LAST MINUTE almost literally. It was at about 5PM on the last day of the hunt! Besides that I got a nice early Large Cent, belt plate keeper, bayonet scabbard tip, button back, button with "Engineer" stamped on it with a locomotive below and several other goodies. Hope y'all like and keep your hands a diggin' for that next great find

Re: Back From DIV and here's the FINDS

Thanks Ty, and Collectors01 and Buck, I believe that the date on the LC is 1804 or 1806 but further cleaning will be needed to verify for sure!

PitDiggers, thanks for the comments my friend, we all love those Civil War relics and have it on my list to visit many of my friends on here including BuckleBoy to do some digging together.

You guys have a great day and look forward to seeing your upcoming posts!

OH YESS! There was a WHOLE Leather Change Purse dug from inside a hut floor on the ridge at about 6 inches that still had the leather attached but a big piece is missing and all you see is 8 NICE BIG silver coins and one copper staring back at you....Now the only dilemma that the guy has who found it as he said is whether or not he leaves it the way it is or risk destroying the purse to see what kind of coins they are. I image they are a few seated quarters, a seated dime and a large cent....There could be more but that's all that shows through the hole in the pouch....It was a SPECTACULAR find! I suggested to him to contact a professional preservation firm and have them professional open the pouch and remove the coins and also preserve the pouch in which they were found. It would make a AWESOME display with the coins in the pouch the way that it was found BUT I would want to know what kind of coins they are....and being that they were protected inside the pouch I would venture to guess that they are in spectacular condition. I would endorse you going over to myTreasureSpot.com and go to the Diggin' In Virginia forum and take a look at it for yourself because it is truely a once in a lifetime find and it will light up your eyes for sure!

Cordially,

Sentinel
