While hunting earlier this past week, me and my hunting buddy went to a local park that has been popular with kids for decades. There is a huge hill, and I mean huge that stands on one end of the park that goes up into a wooded area. We were hunting along the side of the hill near an old rock drainage site, when I got a nice loud signal that showed no depth on my Minelab Explorer II. Suspecting a can right below the surface, I scraped the moss away from the rock with my shoe and BAM! this little soldier plops out from decades of watch near the rocks. And he is beautiful! He still has color all over. The base is green, his boots orange, his rifle red and his jacket yellow. A very nice find indeed. And to think he wasn't even buried deep, just below the moss on the surface. He is extremely nice and a welcome find indeed! Happy hunting to all!

Very nice! I found four of them once in the same hole, different theme though. One was a Roman soldier and the other 3 were slaves or servants or something. Most of the paint was still on mine too. They were found in a park also.

Great dig!! It is mice to see some different types of finds. Not every treasure is made of sliver or gold! You just proved it!!!
I am no expert but it looks like a WWI era soldier.

you might want to get that checked for lead paint ::)

That's a great find congrats to you . I like seeing and finding this kind of stuff cause it's the odd finds that make this hobby much more exciting . Id take that lead soldier anyday over a pocket full of crusty clads ! ;D

BTW- He looks Japanese with those colors and that face.

I was thinking the same thing-maybe Japanese WWII?? Are there any markings on the base?

Nice find!! That soldier is in great shape after such a long dirt nap.

I found the lower half of a lead soldier a couple of weeks ago. The puttees had me thinking it was a WW1 soldier, but your apparently-WW2 Japanese soldier is another possibility. I think mine's still out in the trunk of the car.
