Ahh a dreary damp day here today, but we are out tomoz, so didn’t let the weather put us off! 😆 xx

I found this strap fitting, now to my eyes it looks a bit like an animal…. but that may just be wishful thinking? The a little buckle, 2 little tack mounts, a little stud with a B on it, drawer handle, half a crotal bell, buttons, some kind of token a crusty Roman, then I hit the big time with a base silver Roman AND a quarter hammered 😆, himself found 4 crusty Romans, and was last seen weeping as he made his way back into his house 😆 xx

Tomorrow we are out waddling with the Bassets so no detecting.. but a day like today will keep me going till next weekend! xx

blossom do you need my address ?

More great finds! Congratulations to you and himself (even if he was muttering dark things).

What' this about waddling with the Bassets? Did you visit a gathering, or did you get your own? Either way, congratulations! My two are about to turn 8 years old, one in Dec. and one in January.

Another great Blossom post! After looking at your wonderful artifact photos for so many posts, and not being able to do such nice photos myself, I wonder whether you would share some tips? I like the colour balance, the true colour of the artifact, the shadowing, the good three dimensional effect and the vignette effect. How do you manage all that?

Cru'dad's ID:

I believe this Denarius is ELAGABALUS who used the Antoninus Pius style legend.
So coin is an AD 221 Sears 7534 RIC Vol IV no 42 minted Rome legends as follows:
Obverse: MP ANTONINVS PIVS AV[G]
Reverse: [PM]TRP IIII COS III P[P]/Star(*) in left field/ Providentia stood left holds Rod over Globe and Cornucopiae.
Ahh Thanks Cru’dad… !! xx

honestly these Roman coins are completely beyond my understanding… the only joy they bring me is the look of devastation on his face when i find them nd he doesn’t!! 😂 xx

So Amazing Bloss.... You photograph them so well too. Are all these artifacts from this field to be displayed publicly somewhere by chance? Couldn't remember the purpose other than your own
Ahh thank you, no other purpose than to show you guys and so we have a record of what we found, where and when!! One day i shall write a book..! Maybe! xx 😃

Gladly altho i am by no means a photographer!! 😂 xx

I use my iphone 13 pro camera.. and i have a basic light box i found on amazon… once photo taken simple use the edit feature on the phone to crop, and add the vignette filter! xx honestly its more luck than skill! The pottery i use is just bits i pick up when wandering the fields! xx

I think we all love the treasure you display. And displayed well I might add. It's like walking through a museum of Roman era 🏆
Keep it up and keep us in suspense :notworthy:

Its a 16th C Sword Belt Hanger, it had 3 loops, & the 3 hooks suspended on the scabbard clipped on & off. The design is foliage.
