For everyone who loves the natural beauty of silver... Today's Find is a 1939 Mercury Dime. I dare not clean this one for fear of the backlash from the forum members. As promised... straight out of the dirt, however, lightly dusted. This is my 5th silver coin in 3 weeks, and I never used to find them until I started to discriminate as high as my detector will allow. This is my third year detecting, and I am finally getting the hang of it. You learn something new every time you go out... Hopefully this will represent the lesson I learned about cleaning coins. Good luck everyone...

Btw... Let's not turn this into a discussion about discriminating, please... I am highly aware of what I am missing... a bunch of junk!

Anthony

Wow... That's a lot of Mercury Dimes that you have. Personally, I think they are the most beautiful of all dimes, and now I have my first one. I am going back out in a little bit to see if I can find something else. Probably not, but you never know. Nice shot of the mercs that you included in your response.

You DUSTED it?
OMG, OMG, OMG!! What were you THINKING??!!

Kidding dude! Nice murky! :icon_thumleft:

Too funny... I should just leave them in the ground and pay my respects when I am in the area, lol...

Be sure to mark the locations with those wire flags that the cable guys use. A Sharpie marker wouldn't hurt either so you can write on the flags.
I'm planning a vacation up your way, ;D

:icon_thumright: Always nice to get Silver.

When you want gold, turn the Disc down (no discussion, just a statement) :laughing7:

Pffttt... We're lucky to get Silver once or twice a year in this area. It's tough detecting in these here parts, lol. Coins are all beat up, corroded, and not to mention... mostly all finds are pennies. But... something is changing on the horizon... Silver is coming to me.

Your not doing a good job of convincing me to holiday in the US ::)

Start listening for them deeper ones & the ones on edge :icon_thumright:

Not to say your wrong but remember the Philadelphia mint ? it knocked out millions !! of silver coins over the years this guy i know has been detecting 20 years from near you he has over 3000 silver coins he has dug so they are there in the ground and a lot more still to find Dd60

nice Merc!!!! i dig all targets in my custom program!!! after about 200hrs on the SAFARI i now pull nice deep warblers at 8+.. Master ur machine and u will be rewarded :icon_thumleft: MR TUFF

During my almost 3 years of relic-hunting I've also grown out of treating my silver coins as I usually treat my kitchen sink :). Beautiful merc Au Naturale :icon_thumright:
