It's atulai (big eyed scad) season again. Every year around this time huge schools of these fish come inside the reefs. Some people catch them using nets but I prefer rod n reel. I caught over 20 of them. Its very fun to catch these guys. And if you like to catch the bigger fish like barricuda or giant trevally........atulai is the best live bait to use. Here's a group of pics showing how a popular local dish made from atulai is prepared. Its called atulai kelaguen. Its basically raw fish cooked with lemon juice. Really good stuff. It might not look too appetizing for some, but let me tell you this stuff is awesome!
The days catch:

The lemon used: I found these while hiking in the jungle a few days ago. Very good flavor:

I deboned the fish, threw in some diced green onions and a bunch of hot peppers. (I don't know how but I missed deboning one fish???)

Next I poured in the lemon juice and some freshly grated coconut:

Everything is mixed together:

A bit of soy sauce in added and mixed in. Enjoy............
