I'd like to keep this at the top as long as possible to inform visitors and new members.
I know it's a long standing and recurring problem, but I just want to say it.
If you buy coins from one location, do not bring them back to that location. Even if they say it's OK; even if you think it's OK. It will hurt you and others in the long run. Open an account at another bank is best, another branch of the same bank if you must.
Why?
1) You might frustrate someone and they won't order for you again.
2) Management might notice your frequent appearance and stop coin sales to you.
3) You might fill or break the machine, causing a branch doing YOU a favor to do extra work.
4) You will end up searching through your own dumps at some point. At least search OTHER people's dumps!
A few reminders from the past few weeks.
1) I saw a guy dumping dimes and halves at a bank, and then buy a box. AND tell them he was looking for silver (don't teach the people that handle the money how to go through it if they don't know!) I talked to him and he seemed to have no idea why that might not be a good plan, at least from the frustrating tellers perspective.
2) A bank I picked up some halves from today only sold them to me when I agreed not to bring them back. Of course I never do, I've been buying there over a year, and never brought them back. They said others have, and clog up their machine and it is out of order. Just imagine: if you helped someone out, and they came back and made more work for you and problems at your workplace? Would you want to do that again?
So please. Do not take them back to where you picked them up.
