AT Pro Input Please.....Saltwater Beach & Surf Experience/Summaries

Mike , I didn't Say It was just as Good . I SAID i liked the machine Just as well... IV been metal detecting for 25 years and I have had ALmost every brand named machine out there .. when u get up there with the top named Brands , there all pretty good . it comes down to personal preference in the end . I preffer Minelab machines and will buy one when i can afford one . I do like my ATpro I can't say anything negative about it,, I haven't had any issues with it ... Not one . I heard that Garrett had some issues with the earlier models ,which they did . Garrett fixed the issues and so far the ATP buyers since this year 2012, Haven't had any problems.
If you prefer the excal then why did you say you like the AT pro just as well.

I had lots of trouble with the first few machines and now have one that seems to work. I am stuck inland now so can only use it in freshwater. I don't like the way the numbers don't lock on even when you have a coin on the surface. Mine is not a POS, but I won't use it anymore.
If it dont lock on a surface coin something is wrong with it. The AT locks on at depth let alone on a surface coin.

For the money the ATP is a no Brainer ,,, all around good detector ... The AT pro is a hell of a buyat 594.00. The CZ 21 is a great detector But big Money Xcal great detector But Huge Money I could go on and on .. your At pro will do both water and land for Half the cost and do a really good job . I researched Big time before i bought and I was on a limited budget . and after I spoke with the water hunters here in florida I decided to Buy the AT PRO .I came real close to sov Gt but i wanted a water and land Machine. I know I made the right choice .. Im a huge Minelab Fan , but for now it just wasn't gonna work for me $$$$ .My next detector will be a used ex Cal 1000.... I just have to find one . Good luck and good hunting to you .....
You can get an AT PRO for 500 with free shipping. I got my AT with waterproof headphones and coil cover for 577.

Anyone can get just the atpro for about 520, delivered. It should make your visitor friends, experienced or not, blush with appreciation. Don't worry about troubles with the unit, they have been resolved. I say get the pro, worth every nickel. It is a good land machine in the trash as well.

One thing that's bothering me a bit......I keep hearing how good the AT is, even in the surf......but I'm not hearing anyone saying that they're finding any gold with it on the wet sand beaches or in the surf. Just curious if the depth is still there once it's adjusted to the environment?

When set up to run stable it has two inches less depth than a CZ 21. Ive found gold in saltwater and most of it was more than one scoop deep, some several scoops deep. I can run 5 of 8 bars sens in the water and 6 bars in the wet sand. This was on the west coast of Florida, other places may be different.

I hunted with Lookindown all of last year and he pulled just as much gold with the ATP as we did with our CZ's. It's not a turn on and go machine but you can learn it pretty quick. East coast may be a different story though. I know it does well in the Gulf. If it is a salt water only detector that you need I would say go the extra $400 and get an Excal or a CZ21. It's not bad on the west coast of Florida but on land and fresh water the ATP is an excellent choice. Good Luck

Off the subject a bit.....but does anyone know if there is a great deal of difference (Mineralization) between the east and west cost of Florida? Never really thought about it? :dontknow:
