AT Pro Coil my checking's are.......... fine check this out.

OK ..Here we go i had a chance to check my AT Pro out for coil problems today even though it is 20 degrees F. out and a foot and a half of snow on the ground.................... First inside i took my coil loose from my AT Pro and did what was shown in the video buy synthnut ................ And it did the same as his did sounded off.......... So i took the coil loose from my Garrett 1500 and it did the same thing sounded off....... .............. SOOO i took the coil off my Minelab Sovereign...... And Guess what........ it sounded off also............ so i would say that is normal for a coil to do and as some one pointed out the coil is picking up the coil wire.................... Now i took it outside and scrubbed the ground bumped into small brush as i would do when hunting and no noise with my AT Pro.................. So as some one stated when they set there detector down to dig it would make sounds so i did that and my AT did not make a sound............................. So i say by waveing your coil around loose when hooked up to your detector with the detector on is a normal reaction for the detector to do...................And i find that my AT Pro as i see it is working just fine just great .....It is working as it should............

Re: AT Pro Coil my checking's are..........

Keppy I appreciate your post. This was the type of info I was looking for. Being a newbie with no dealers in my area to check out units in person, research on these forums is the only info I have to base my buying decisions upon. On my post holding off purchasing the AT Pro alot of the info I got from Thomas Dankowski website where Garrett sent him a AT Pro to do test and reviews on. He claimed that he told Garrett about the coil problem and had received no response. Why didn't Garret check out these claims and explain their findings they knew his review would be posted on the internet. Anyway I'm putting the AT Pro back on my list. Again thanks for the post.

Re: AT Pro Coil my checking's are..........

Thanks for the Report Keppy. And as I have told some of the people with issues, and so have many others, if you really think it is faulty, send it in to Garrett. Garrett will not ruin it's performance by desensitizing it to the point where it won't false anymore and only get 5 inches on a quarter. That would be just plain stupid. Most people seem to be doing just fine with their AT Pro's when they are used as they were intended to, not shaking the crap out of them. My portable cd player and battery operated transistor radio also falses with that kind of treatment.

Instead of bringing up the same old complaint day after day after day, send the darn thing in. The Engineer who designed the machine is the only one who knows what the machine does, what it should do and how to correct it.

I don't know where you got some of your information from, but most of what you have just stated if far from the truth of what really happened. Without opening up a can of worms.....if you have any issues, call Garrett for the correct information, not from someone Else's website who sells tapes and is associated with a different brand. Look at all the websites supporting Garrett and don't forget to also weigh in the quality & quantity of finds, the depth and other issues. It's easy for someone to criticize, but a lot harder to actually learn a detector to see what it can do.

Every time a new metal detector is released, there are always a lot of politics flirting around, as there are a lot of invested interests being addressed. That's just how it is, and will always be that way.

Again.....call Garrett and get the facts! Good luck with whatever metal detector you choose to get....

i have read what that guy has been saying John my question is if he is so good and knows everything about coils why not build a dd coil to prove that is what is wrong with 2 or 3 persons that will not send them in to get fixed.every post the one that cries the most i put send it in with no reply just more crying.i be leave Kippy's real world test more the the other guys taking the coil off the rod with wire laying all over in his clip.also if he put the wire ties to tight it will screw up the coil wire,i use to install radio equipment and have seen it screw up antenna wire enough to where the 2 way would not work right.

Thank-you kwdstalker....It just boggles my mind how someone can think that a product they have might be defective, post the same complaint day after day, on different forums, yet refuses to send it in to be assessed. :dontknow:
