A few finds from yesterday. Fishing weights, a penny, a dime, and a Norma .44 Magnum casing. Not gonna count the numerous pull tabs and tin cans that I hauled.

Nothing exciting.

At least you could get out - Sinkers sound like very nice targets - good practice !
It's a long process but every time you go on a hunt - you get just a little bit more use to your machine.

Good Hunting !

Lots of sinkers that for sure, and a reusable hook.
It looks like those have some age to them from the amount of corrosion to the lead.
Could be just the environment (salt)?
Salt levels are mostly low in that area, it's the Delaware River. But, there is some salt crystals in the .44 Magnum casing that I found. I know this area has been fished for a long time and this location used to be a "resort" in the 1880s.

So the lead is in fresh water or brackish?
The 1880 recoveries are probably pretty deep, but obtainable depending on what machine you are using.

The Delaware River is a combination of saltwater, brackish water, and freshwater. The salinity levels vary along the length of the river, with Delaware Bay being saltwater, and Wilmington/Philadelphia mostly freshwater. I hunted the Augustine Beach area which is closer to Wilmington (fresh).

I use a Dr. Otek MT/XR for now until I upgrade to the Minelab X-Terra Elite. The one I have is a single frequency and struggles at the beach with the salinity/mineralization. I can get by in the lower salinity levels (for now). The yellow box is where I went.
