I can help you...1st you need patience to use an atgold...second the vdi numbers are identified at top of screen.soil conditions etc.affect these so it is general

I do not have the AT Gold but have the AT Pro. Recently I visited my dealer (a supporting sponsor on this site; Metal Detecting Stuff) and air tested a AT Gold on a small gold chain along with silver and clad coins. The VDI for coins was about the same on both machines.

The best way to learn the VDI numbers on your machine is for you to gather up some coins and items; checking them on your machine paying attention to the audio AND VDI. Trying to remember just VDI numbers will confuse you. You need to hunt by sound (nice audio not chopping out too much) and then use the VDI as a guide. Are the numbers consistent along with good audio or do the VDI numbers bounce around with choppy audio?

Also you may need to change it up a bit depending on where you are hunting. If I am at an old property with very little trash then I will dig the deep choppy sounds.

You have a great machine. Use it; learn the sounds it makes and then believe in it!
