Assistance With Tag / Token. Civil War?

Hi. Attached are obverse and reverse photos of a (brass) tag found by a friend on a site that used to be a New York Militia Civil War training area. Now, everything has been found there from civil war tokens and ammo to modern clad. Anyway, could this tag relate to something from the Civil War, or just an ordinary tag from whatever? Thanks!

You'll probably never know for sure. It's a pretty common design used for all kinds of purposes. Tool tag would be my guess.
