✅ SOLVED Asian ceremonial tool?

This interesting piece was found at the site of an old farmhouse in North Carolina. It is made of brass or copper and one side of the handle has more wear than the other indicating plenty of use. Any ideas?

I thought of a bottle opener also but it doesn't have any wear where you would expect if it had opened any bottles. The wear is on the handle.
