Is your figure of 1834 the year date or the production number.
I'm guessing it's a production number and the vintage is about the late 19th C--again, just guessing.
Don.....
It is defiantly a date it's all on the blade "ARTA FABA De To LEDO 1834 also "made in Spain "on blade by top of handle horizontally top part is vertical also the blade is only sharp about half way down then it is a flat bone braking edge the rest of the way I don't really want to talk about we're my treasure honey holes are but I will say around fort Ticonderoga NY
So do u believe this was an infantry sword what battle do u think it was used in or do u think it was dropped in battle or someone lost it there many year earlier I don't know but like to imagine it was dropped in a battle. Any more info would help
that i can not help with...perhaps a veteran had the weapon engraved for prior service...could be an award for service action...napolean did something similar...veterans of a campaign would have blades engraved...
