My wife stepped on this arrowhead or spearpoint while we were searching for pottery shards in the Shenandoah River today. It is 2" long and 1" wide. Looks like it has been in the river a long time as edges are worn down. Anyone have an idea on its age or period it is from?
Hmmm, based on your photo, looks to me like a Late Woodland period side notched point. That period existed between A.D. 500 and A.D. 1000. It could also be a heavily re-worked/re-sharpened Middle Woodland point.
