This huge field is about the last one with failed crop. Dad said yesterday that we should do the small corner piece at the bottom of the hill, I said I wanted to go to the top. In the morning I had changed my mind & I had decided to cover this small 1/2 acre piece which was very trashy but I hoped for a nice button or capbadge. Imagine my surprise when after 50 minutes of trash digging out popped a Goldie.:icon_thumright: My second this year... Someone must have trown it out with the trash!
We then started on the top of the hill after finishing the small area - we both did 4 hours.

5 Scrappies
4 Lead Tokens
1807 Penny
1721 Halfpenny

My first Eleborate 14th C Strap-end for a Sword Belt:icon_thumright:

Beautiful find on the Gold Half Sovereign Cru!
But for me personally, I prefer the half crotal and the scrappies! :laughing7:

Dave

Awesome find Crusader!! Always a treat to see a dug gold coin!!

Like Eric, I am also stumped. What is the E in the date all about??

Once more you amaze me! I wish to find half the gold coins you have found! Big congrats!

What is the little coin like object next to the seal fob, with a person on it?

One little request we all would love...could you show us all your fold coins together? Is it possible? It must be an amazing sight!

Once again congratulations!

Great find..congrats:occasion14:

Congrats. Heading over in October and hope to find some gold myself.

Nicely done...your instincts paid off!

Congrats on the gold coin, they don't pop out that often even in your neighborhood and I can just imagine that there has been thousands of holes dug between the gold finds. The only thing that would out trump the sovereign in my books would be getting a Noble.

Unless I've had too may pints tonight, the date in your pic looks like "18E3" to me...was it damaged?? :dontknow: Looks like that coin has seen a bit of circulation...what year were they in circulation until in the UK? Nice Victoria gold!

Its just a bit damaged/worn.

I think it was 1915 when they stopped being legal tender but they still mint the same coin for collections/bullion.

If I added it up right, I found 15 & Dad 6:

It sounds like you are having a bad day on many of your replies I read, but maybe that's still having a good day in the UK. Sort of like if the weather is overcast there, it's still a nice sunny day as long as it's not raining. :laughing7:

Oh yeah, nice gold. :occasion14:

Sorry forgot to say what the object was - it's a Medieval Coin Weight
