Agreed. The one should say Scovills, with an “s” at the end rather than “e”.

Actually, no "s" or no "e" at the end. It is just "Scovill". The company has been in business since 1850 ("Scovill Manufacturing Company"). Still in business today as "Scovill Fasteners Inc.".

No, from 1840-50 the company was called Scovills & Company. Before that (1827-1840) there was J.M.L.& W.H. Scovill. And before that was a partnership of Leavenworth, Hayden & Scovill (1811-1827).

Johnbrian is partially right, From 1850 until 1962 when they quit making buttons the company was Scovill. And, like nhbenz said, prior to 1850 the company went by different names.
