Are post 2001 halves really worth it?

The last 2 boxes I searched Friday had so many post '01
coins that I limited myself to 10 coins for each year, 02'-'06.
I ended up rerolling about 100 '01-'06 coins. It seems like
some have been released to circulation.

I would like some opinions from the board about whether
it is worth it to keep them or sell them back.

I personally think in the long term, they will be worth keeping. I only keep ones that are in great condition. I give some of these coins to the tellers I deal with as tokens of my appreciation. I always place then in a 2X2 holder, and the tellers really love this small gesture I give from time-to-time.

In speculative terms, I think they're a poor investment. Could be worse, though, and at least you won't lose money.

That is true, you cannot lose. I do not keep them all. I do roll some of them and put in my daughters and nephews box. If nothing else its money saved.

If you want to experiment, try a selling a roll of various '02-'07 dates on eBay, playing up the "not released for circuation" part. Do stress that they were circulation finds of course. You may get some bids from collectors looking to fill empty holes. Just don't tell them about CRH!
