Are gravity dredges allowed in California?

All of the above is correct, and seeing that I have kids around the house now,I took over 80 lbs of Merc I had and gave all of it to my buddy in Washington where the Dredgers have a yearly collection........great press and idea.I have used Merc, for years, but anymore its just not worth it to me to have around.....aside from the whacko's ramifications!!

Ford Motor Company is ending it's production of Mercury.

If'n you wanted to know...

But every little compact flourecent light bulb contains at least five milligrams of mercury.
How many go to land fills around the world to contaminate real water supplies for Humans?
Who cares?

And yes I do believe fish just love the food that is stirred up by dredging and digin in creeks!

i know this is an old post but i recently talked with Mark Stopher of DFG (Lead Biologist in charge of interpreting the moratorium) and he said that gravity dredging was legal but you might need to comply with the stream bed alteration program.

Substantially Comply :icon_pirat:
What a substantial joke from the two faced ferret.
If you don't propose your activity to be "Substantial" then have at it, this is what the program states.

Notification of Lake or Streambed Alteration

Notification is required by any person, business, state or local government agency, or public utility that proposes an activity that will:

substantially divert or obstruct the natural flow of any river, stream or lake;
substantially change or use any material from the bed, channel, or bank of, any river, stream, or lake; or
deposit or dispose of debris, waste, or other material containing crumbled, flaked, or ground pavement where it may pass into any river, stream, or lake.

:angry5: sunstantial???? :BangHead: SUBSTANTIAL :evil5: we ain't got no stinkn' substantial and just a ungodly waste a time and breathe talkn' to that lying scum sucking ferret faced :tongue3: In my 20+ years a dealing with him the only truth emitted from his slimy mouth is NO DREDGING ----for those who don't rejoice in no permits :evil5: ==no mo' rules and regs sooooooo let the :angry5: take the hindmost-tons a au 2 u 2 -John :headbang:

For purposes of this discusion we would pass most of this test. Although a gravity dredge may substantially change the streambed in someones opinion. I would argue not as it would return to a natural state after one wet season.

:icon_scratch: PERMIT :skullflag: WE DON' NEED NO STINKN' PERMIT :headbang: my righteous 4" gravel sucker dumps right into a big ol'sluice and mine all MINE--- :hello2: look ma no engines, footvalves, nicen' quiet like as done for at least 35 years..... and it was good-John

Nice pic John, do you have any others of your gravity dredge setup?

Ahh ok, dont want to give those spots away. :)

Change ain't coming, we are all headed different directions. Been that way for the whole time and it will remain that way as it's how it is.

Might as well call it how ya see it but reallity still holds. Hosers efforts deserve respect but you can't help those that are deaf and gullable.

Do what you must (just do it) but please stop squabbling like bunch of dang old ladies. Getting real old and No good comes from it anyhow.
