Whites DFX, Minelabs E-Trac
The ground finally thawed at the beginning of April and I was able to start usning a Minelabs E-trac instead of my DFX. I am rehunting some of the more productive places I hunted before and had a pretty good month for keepers. Thanks for looking.

Those are some swell finds! Do you find the e-trak a bump up from the DFX? I use the DFX and just now learning to tweak it. Been finding some older coins and they are not locks on the vdi. They bounce all over the place. I have also found that in coin mode I need to dig all the the bouncy 80's to 93. I find mostly rusty nails but 1 in 10 is a keeper. Just been hearing so many good things about the minelab and was just wondering your opinion.

Looks like you did pretty well,Congrats on a good haul.
I haven't found that many good coins in three years.
Keep bringing the pics so we can enjoy.

I'm in the same boat as you are currently floating in. been using the DFX with the 4x6 exclusively, and learning how to tweak it as well. Plan to master the DFX, but I keep seeing posts about the e-trak.

Man, that is one great token find! Congrats on that one

I have been trying to research that saloon token. The name George Cyr appears in a 1909 newspaper article as the owner of a bar on West Front Street that had his license revoked because he was selling liquor to the indians in town. Apparently that was against the law at the time. I have some more work to do to be sure that the token and the event actually are related.
That does make the token at least 100 years old though, so it is a good one. I found it along a boulevard in front of an old school building in downtown Missoula.

mcmurphi,
I find the DFX and E-trac very different in their strengths, but both good machines. I kept the DFX because it is so fast and effective in parks for anything down to about 6 inches. The E-trac really shines when looking for deeper coins but you have to move very slowly and it does not deal with shallow targets very well, so using is where there are very few targets in a large area, can be frustrating. I have used the DFX for several years and found the transition to the E-trac easier to make than what I have heard the Explorer users say they have.
