I'm considering getting the 13" detech wondering what kind of improvements I can expect over my 950 stock coil. I know my coil goes down at cone so I'm guessing I will get more deeper targets just because covering a bigger percentage of deep area.

You might get a little deeper but the advantage over the concentric is it sees just as deep at the out edge of the coil, so that combined with it being much larger gives you a lot more coverage.

Is pinpointing harder?

I thought concentric coils made a cone shaped pattern in the ground. That's why they pin point better than DD.

The detech 13" is dd. My stock coil on my m6 is concentric and detects in cone shape. I've never used a dd that's why I'm curious about the pinpointing aspect.

Don't have a DD yet but have read multiple posts on how to pin point.. you would just move back and forth to get your target in the center of the coil, (shallowest dept readging in pinpoint mode) then move backwards till the depth changes and the target should be just in front of the coil in the center. At least that is what has been posted and I have seen on video.

I have the ultimate 13"DD coil for my MXT and while I don't see any improvement in depth over the whites D2 coil its just as deep but it does hit harder on coins that are on edge. I pounded this old baseball diamond with my D2 coil getting silver at 8 to 10" deep then went back over it with the 13"DD coil and got 3 more silver dimes on edge at 10" and a silver Washington quarter at 12" on edge. It does cover more ground per swing when detecting wide open spaces, of course you don't want to use this coil in the woods. What part of Indiana you from I'm in the greenwood area. HH

I'm in terre haute. Very good information! Thank you. Why not in woods?

Because of the size of the coil makes it hard to get into and between places in the woods and the big open spaces on the coil are stick magnets so it will be getting caught up all the time. You could use it in the woods if you want but there will be places that you'll miss swinging on because the coil is to big to get into and it will be hanging up on stuff all the time. HH

Thank you for the information. I think I'm going to like this coil and doubt I'll put the stock coil back on but may get another smaller DD coil at later time for trashy and wooded areas. ;)

I've got the 13" for my F75 ltd. and it works good in wide open spaces. I don't use it in old parks and school yards because of the trash that the larger coil can pick up. I do us the 6X10 on my M6 and it works good for the type of hunting I do. Where do you hunt most of the time?
