Does anyone have the Ace 250 9x12 inch coil? How much more depth does it have? Is it worth buying?

I have! I got 2"(5cm) more depth for coins and rings.

Thanks Estonian. Im thinking of buying one as a back up MD for the Treasure Beaches.

just got mine in the mail. will post how well it does as soon as it STOPS FREAKIN' RAINING HERE IN SOUTH FLORIDA!

if this rain keeps up, i'll have to use my tigershark and snorkel just to swing at the park!

Please let us know what you think of it....Thanks, Tom

I have used my large coil quite a few hours and it certainly has
a couple more inches depth. Pinpointing took a little getting used
to on shallow targets but after I learned to raise the coil a few inches off the ground when pinpointing it worked just fine. The main downside for me is , it seems to throw off the balance on an otherwise super easy to swing detector. The Ace spoiled me with its feather light weight and excellent balance. In my opinion the large coil is a must have for relic hunting or coin hunting where there is not a lot of trash.

Who has the cheapest prices on the 9x12? I saw one on ebay for 84.95 with free s/h. Is there anyone any cheaper?
Thanks,
Ed

I have and have used the 9x12 for over a year now. I have 2 250s one with stock coil and the other with the 9x12 coil. A little trick I use is to clean the area with the stock coil digging everything. Then I hit it again with the 9x12. Some of my best finds have come this way. W/o trash to mask signals and in a damp to wet soil I think I can get 4 inches deeper, but I've never really measured it or anything, besides who's got the time to pull out a tape measure when we think we've found a really deep item ? I just wanna close up that hole and move on to the next find. ;D

P.S. Try Tonyinconn for good deals, great service and reliability, besides he's here at T-net so you won't have to look far.

Cheapest prices? Try Clevengers Metal Detecting. His 1-800 number in on google, but he doesn't have a website. Hes OLD school and very reasonable. I don't think I have seen anyone beat his price.

Robert, I will say go with Clevenger also. Have known him for 30 plus years and he is OK! Actually I just purchased a Tejon from him on my trip to the USA! Bill

Hi Oldman:

(look whos calling someone oldman!(:-)

Yea, I like doing business with Clevenger. He sounds a bit cranky but I think thats just how he comes off on the phone. Not everyone has telephone personality. I asked him some tech questions and he took the time to explain some things to me. Very helpful.
I notice he has alot of used machines and demo machines at reasonable prices.
Hes not very big on computers. Everyting about him is old school. And of course he doesn't have to worry about computer glitchs etc.

You've know him for 30years? You live out his way in Kansas City?

Regards
Robert R

Thanks Guys,
I have to say Clevengers is the MAN!! :D

Since this tread appears to be over, let me hijack it....what all have you found by doing what you said using the stock coil first, then the larger one???? sounds like an interesting idea...I would like to know what the air test difference in depth is......Thanks, Tom
