Anyone try the new 2010 Gaarret shallow water detector?

The new AT Pro will not be available until November. A lot of people don't think it will do well in salt water due to being a single frequency VLF, but we shall see.

Well i will grab one up when they come out in Nov. everyones has been wanting a VLF water detector from Garrett................................. And garrett has put out one nice detector in the AP Pro i think they will do good in salt water. I have used my Ace 250 and GTI 1500 in salt water with no problem........... I think the ones useing them in salt water don't know how to set them up.........

I don't think it will have a problem in the water here on the gulf coast in nw Florida. We don't have mineralization problems or black sand to worry about. The beaches on the west coast may be a problem. Like I said, it remains to be seen. I'm ready to sell my Sea Hunter Mk II to give it a try.

They won't be available until the end of October or beginning of November.

How can you set the ace 250 to still go atleaset 3 inches without running into issues when messing with the sensitivity on the beach? I tried and found I had to turn it down so much it would barel hit 3 inches.

Depends on where your hunting on a beach. Dry Sand or wet sand? With the ACE any water interference where the water is constantly flowing will cause the machine to be a little irratic throwing false signals here and there. You need to be either in the nice flat wet sand after the tide rolls out or the nice dry sand above. I would set my machine to a sensitivity of about 4 or 5 in the dry sand and 4 in the wet sand, if you are still getting irratic signals absolutely everywhere thats another problem. The possibilities are, very high minerilization, electric interference by towers, something stuck under your coil cover, loose cables, a virgin beach with thousands of signals or a faulty machine. You have to be the judge of these problems usually troubleshooting with a buddy with the same setup(detector i mean) You also need to make sure your not to another detectorist, you dont have metal in your boots or shoes. So as you can see many factors will cause a machine to act erractic. I hope you cure the problem and find some gold!

good luck
