A bad idea

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself. :tongue3:
Any marks on the bottom? What's the size? And material (stoneware?)

I'd like to see the underside and know the size as well.

Chamber pot lid is a distinct possibility.

DCMatt is correct, in my book, and it is a very fancy too. I can see the handle recessed as to fit the pot with lid under the bed. It would be good to see a photo of the underside also. Sub 8-)

Just posting what I hope will be some helpful observations. Serving-bowl lids (and other container lids) are generally either convex (domed) or flat, whereas this object is concave, like the one in the chamber-pot photo. However... although I'm too young to have used a chamber-pot, every one of those I've ever seen was circular-bodied, whereas this lid is rectangular. Did rectangular chamber-pots exist?

Sorry guys, all I have is the photo I've shown. I think it is a chamber pot lid.
