Re: Anyone know the status of the TH company "Visa Gold Explorations Inc., "
Goldfishhunter:
I stole "Splash" from Bob Marx when I was selling the first, numbered editions of Phil Olin's groundbreaking book Treasure; The Business and Technology. I put up the money to print it and part of my return was the first 100 copies, signed and numbered. I sold them as a package (with a letter from Phil, newsletter, etc.) and they (85 copies, if I remember correctly - I held back most of #'s 1 - 10, #13, etc.) went very quickly. I saw one change hands on eBay a few years ago at a very fancy price.
At that time I was selling books to a number of professional treasure hunters and Bob was on my list. I met him here in California when he was negotiating with the State of California to explore Drake's Bay for the lost galleon. Unfortunately, the State Archaeologist made it person that Mr. Marx was never going to get a permit (The Abandoned Shipwreck Act be d***'d!) and that most interesting portion of international maritime lore remains buried.
