been to s'town and hunted once. didn't hit anything of interest but would go back if i had a good spot to hunt.

I will do some research on the area and get back to you on hunting next spring. This is a very old town.

Isn't there a turkey hunting reserve, or state game reserve near Chester?ALL of these towns are very old, Shawneetown, Chester, Jacob, Murphysboro, Jonesboro.....Isn't turkey hunting season coming up soonPost more often, John. Do I know where that is? I lived there and was a 1982 Grad of Gorham Tech. We should go out detecting sometime. I live in Murphysboro now.

I had a next door neighbor who moved to Chester. He told me he went to the library there a few years ago and found they had some original hand-drawn maps with the first trails throughout Southern Illinois, particularly those originating from the Ohio River folk and settlers from Kentucky. This sounds like a literal gold mine of info. Check all the small to medium size town libs down there for those old maps. Get copies if possible, post 'em here if you aren't going to hunt them yourself!
