I have already solved this one myself. I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the date. If I were to guess it would be early 1900s.

Try looking up Hall'S Safe & Lock Co. Your guess of early 1900's would pretty close.

You are all over it. I found this one, and after some research, determined that this type was popular from 1890 until 1920. Notice that the bail is exactly the same as yours, even though the front is different. They made these with all sorts of decorative front panels, as you can see by the "other" front panel in the pic.

I noticed one thing different that most of older locks on the net and some I have at home is there are no pins holding the front to the back. the sides are formed.
