Found this today from a site that ranges from 1930 back to colonial time. Is it possible Military ? Does anyone recognise the trade mark ? Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks. MaineRelic. UPDATE: You people are sharp I never even noticed the A on the Front of the badge . As much as I hated to I gave it a bath in warm peroxide and gently cleaned it with a Q-tip. I then rephotographed it. I am just going to replace the original 2 pics with the updated pics. These do show a little more detail. Thanks; MaineRelic

Re: Anyone familiar with this Star pin or associated trade mark ?

I can only make out a large letter A in the center of the star.
is there any other letters of symbols?

Might be a lapel pin for retired sheriff's deputy or other police officer.

Might be an Eastern Star Masonic pin...... Is that a large A....or the compass and square?

Re: Anyone familiar with this Star pin or associated trade mark ?

The symbol for the order of the Eastern star usually has the star itself inverted,in the so called "sign of the goat" position with two points at the top.
If the letter in the middle is an "A"..which after having looked closer i'm sure it is...then having that the right way up only puts one point of the star at the top.
The "American Legion" is similar but usually has "US" in the middle.Haven't found a match where the points of the star jut over and behind the wreath yet.Still looking.

I thought I could make out a G and a set of compases on the front also. Looks Masonic. Monty

Cleaning it carefully may help. Looks like an A on the front. Its upside down.
It looks like an Arabic letter on the back. :dontknow: arabic letter siin.jpg

I dont think this is it but close. Its the badge of the Order of the Gold Star of The Hero of Ukraine. They both have the form of a pentagonal star applied on a leaf wreath.

Ok, I see the A now, forget the masonic stuff. It would have been a "G". Monty

The thing I notice also is how the points of the star are both in front and behind the wreath. I think that could be a key in identifying this.

I agree arabic sin. I went to the U.S. trade mark site on line today. They had 898 arabic symbols trade marked but this was not one of them :dontknow: :dontknow:

Re: Anyone familiar with this Star pin or associated trade mark ? Updated new P

When I first saw this badge, it reminded me of a toy badge I had seen as a child, and for some reason Sky King kept coming to mind. Back in the 1950's, there were some toy badges made of pewter and/or brass, and were quite nice and heavy. Of course, there were those made of cheap tin too. What makes me think it's could be a toy badge is the 'trade mark' on the back. I'm not familiar with any military badges that have a trade mark on them, but would like to see one is someone has one. Below is a pic of one I found on Google, but it's a repro of one of the older ones.

The most unusual aspect of this badge in my opinion is how the star points are positioned; over/under in the circular rim. Is it brass or what?

Interesting find, Breezie

I know you are up on your jewlery Breezie and was hoping you would chime in ! I believe it is brass alloy yes ! The trade mark stamp has me thrown as well . If it was a toy badge why the letter A on the front though ?? I have pretty much exhausted the military lapel or hat badge angle ! Still a mystery ? Maybe in a set with a toy gun ?? MaineRelic

I do think it is a toy badge probably from the 1950's. During that time Mattel's Company logo had an impish looking kid with a 3 pointed crown on his head. The 3 pointed trade mark on the back of yours is shaped somewhat like it, plus during that era of time a toy company would not pay to have a full logo embossed on a toy. Mattel and other toy companies made badges to go along with cap gun sets. One that I remember (and we sold in our shop about 2 yrs. ago) was Mattel's Agent outfit made from the TV show, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. I'm not saying I think your badge is the AGENT badge, but the letter "A" could stand for a number of old TV & movie cowboys, spys, agents, etc. The give-away to me on whether it is military, service award, (or any official title) is the fact of trademark on the back. It's a very neat find no matter what it is. Breezie

I think the star is EXACT :headbang:
Also, A for Amarillo sounds logical to me.

If you think that star is an exact match ..i know a good optician! lol.
I looked at lots of police,Marshall,Deputy Marshall,Texas rangers etc...none match that design. As Breezy said, the trademark is odd for an official badge,so unless it's some obscure airline pilots cap badge or something then i'll have to go with "toy".
What's also bugging me is i KNOW i've seen that trademark on something..but can't remember where!! :(
