Hell...just make a lamp out of it..

I could do that .. Then we could identify it as lamp parts. Or, I could make a candle holder out of it, and ID it as a candle holder. However, i took it to the town historian and was told it appears to be a homemade bullet of some sort.....my find has been identified as a bullet and that is what it is..Darn It!:laughing7:

Creskol, before you make a bullet lamp candle holder out of it :laughing7:, I think it will be safe to say it's a 'sampler.' I found a pic of a stainless steel sampler that can be used on cheese, ice, wax, and grease. It doesn't look quite like yours, but this one could be the modern version. I'm wondering if Mom & Pop didn't sell these to people who killed hogs and needed lard/grease samples. It is listed on the website below, and it's the next to the last listing on the page. :) Breezie

I'm still wondering about the doughnut maker angle. :dontknow:
I think you're the closest. Looks like a kitchen gadget to me.....dispenser of some sort. Maybe for making even sized pan cakes. Dip the whole thing into the batter, hold it over the griddle, then open the bottom to allow the batter to flow out.

Sorry to hurt any feelings, but this is not an item for injection. You would need to have leverage for that (ie. finger bar) and the object itself is not long enough for that either. Think of a syringe in order to PUSH the liquid out you would need a plunger coming out of the cylinder, not to mention that you would need a place for two fingers and the loop holds the thumb. So since the loop would be for pulling, this thing looks like it would be for collecting samples of soil, or fluid. (more than likely fluid because of the metal bar that is crossing the opening) Chances are pretty high that this was for collecting well water samples to make sure it was good enough to drink. I'm with Vagabondy3 and Archeodeb on this one!:laughing7:

I agree that it is a sampler for something.. I think it is too short for a well sampler .. I think I will subscribe to Breezie's theory that it is a cream sampler or butter fat sampler.

I know it isn't a Whitman's Chocolate Sampler!

YEAH! Way to go Matt on finding those pics!!! I was glad to see a green check on this one, and REALLY GLAD to know it wasn't something medical! :laughing7:

Creskol, you really didn't jump the gun that much because most thought it was a 'sampler.' We just didn't know what kind of sampler it was until Matt found the pics. On the website site, it is called a EasySampler.
