Found this yesterday in an area where I found coins from the early 1900s to the 1940s. It was rusty and put it through electrolysis. I noticed that it was surprisingly ornate. Heavy. No writing anywhere. Appreciate any input. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

At the first look I would say a back plate for a thermometer.
