William333,
I am not as polite as the other members on here, But I will do my best, Just hope I don't get banned on account of your actions.
#1 More than one member on this site has told you that it is NOT a cannon ball, But your not satisfied
#2 We even heard from the CannonBallGuy, In my oppion one of the most knowledgeable people on Artillary shells on this forum( He gave you his credentials)
And you were still not satisfied.
#3 You have posted under at least three different names asking the same questions and getting the same answers, Still your not satisfied.
#4 We have all put up with this unending BS and tried to tell you time and time again what it is and is not. Your still not satisfied. #5 This being the case why don't you just leave, and go find a site that will tell you not the truth, But what you want to hear, The men and women on this site will tell you the truth to the best of our knowledge....Sometime the truth hurts.
#6 So Here's my suggestion, #1 Evidently you do not trust us or our knowledge. There is nothing in it for us to lie to you. So Pack your glad rags ( and don't forget your cannonball) And go find a site that will tell you what you want to hear. But Leave us alone. Under any name PLEASE leave our site and don't look back.
Maybe someday you will find what your looking for becouse your not going to find it here, I appologise to the Mod's for any disrespect that I may have shown this person, But as my Grandmother used to say......You can't fix Stupid and at some point you have to call it as you see it. jmho

Sorry to hijack the thread here but I found a large ball too, I think it's a triple fused cannonball based on the three holes in it. It's marked "MAXIM" and has a strange purple patina to it. It weighs about 10 pounds and about 8 1/2 inches across. Will someone here tell me how rare this cannonball is, and let me know the collector value?View attachment 706357

It looks too small in the picture to be 8 1/2 inches. Are you sure it's not a three hole golf ball?

Again, william333, it is whatever you wish it to be. Maybe in person it is more apparent to you than to us. I don't know, but good luck anyway. I still think it is a nice find. And I could almost promise you that if you walked into the Alamo, told the Daughters of the Republic you just found it down the street where they are digging, they would have it on display within the hour.

Well I measured it using guesswork, but it's definitely bigger than a golfball I think it's a relic from the little known "Battle of Bowl Lane". It just has to be a cannon ball, I saw one just like it fired out of a mortar on a you tube video, but that one was obviously a modern reproduction. I had originally intended to paint it to look like a soccer ball and leave it out in the yard but now I think I'll try to find a collector......

I hope this is it .I think it is a FLAG POLE ornament or a Victorian post ornament The flat spot on it is where it had a spear point or bird.Osage
