Any Leads in Southern PA (York/Shrewsberry) Areas

I know of a few spots that would warrant looking into up in that area. When I was younger my parents had an old house outside of Glen Rock, PA. On the side / back of the property about 10 to maybe 30 yards back into the woods was a rock wall probably 200 yards long. just starting up the hillside if you wandered up the hill there were a number of holes (for lack of a better term) that were 1/2 cut out and 1/2 built onto the hillside. They are / were staggered going up the hill not in a straight line. The closest thing I can think to call them would be mortar emplacements.
I did do some reasearch and there were evidently a number of small civil war battles all over that area. I would have loved to hit that hillside with an MD to see what kinds of goodies that were up there. I know that the house was old when I lived there 20 years ago. I know that no one ever hit the area around the wall or up the hill in the almost 20 years my parents owned it, they sold it about a year ago. So I'd still have to guess that if there were anything up there, it's still there.
I figure that if you played your cards right and asked the current owner and the neighbors you might possibly be granted exclusive access to about 200 acres of woods and fields to MD to your hearts content. Sadly, I don't have phone numbers for them anymore but I can give you directions if you have an interest. My parents neighbors have two different parcels of property up there, one of about 11 acres behind my parents old property and an old farm with about 180 acres or so of fields and woods and an odd cave or two. There is also a lot of abandoned railroad track in the area that might warrant looking at that has been out of service for over 20 years (but I have no idea if its posted or legal to md on or not.

Pylesville isn't too far from Holtwood in southern lancaster county, travel north on 74 and go across the river on 372 east. as you cross the river you will notice that there is a large dam across the susquahanna. The power plant that was built there also built at least two towns for employee's the first town was torn down in the 60's i think the latter was torn down in the early 90's these wer fairly modern homes.also there was a system of waterway locks that travelled along the susquahhanna on the york side just before the bridge to lancaster you can view a restored lock by going down the dirt road on the left, many of the locks are grown over. further north in lancaster county is a place were a ferry once crossed.but i know the bridge was only about 20 minutes from delta/ cardiff.if you want specific directions to the abandoned towns i can give them to you . The land is still owned by the power plant and you probably will need there permission.
