1.5" at it's longest point, very heavy. Curved, which can can be seen in photos, brass or copper, about as thick as a large cent.

probably not a ladle, only the sides are curved, looks like a "u" shaped curve, just a slightly larger angle.

I posted before I thought of this. There is a metal piece in the center, under the decoration. The one I found and have seen in a museum showing Indian War relics does not look like yours,
however I have no idea what they might look like in different times and places. It's a hold over from the days when soldiers whacked at each other with pointy stuff and needed shoulder
protection instead of decoration.

OMG... I just checked this thread... have not seen it since last night... buzed on Corona...

Sheesh man... I thought the damn thing was the size of a softball...

From now on If there is not a "item" fro size reference ... I am skipping it.

I rarely even read the "post" ... unless I have to ... I just look at the pics and guess .... ............... :P

PS.. YES thumb latch is great I.D. and when said... and NOW knowing size...
Is positive I.D.
Solved in my opinion.

I am ready to mark this one solved. Next time I will add size reference, I wanted to use a coin for size reference but never had one, I took the first photos outside and the only thing around were some rocks :)
