I found this while out metal detecting. I think its horse related, but I really am only guessing there. Anyone have a better idea? Thanks in advance for any input!

Diameter is 3.41 inches

At nearly 3 1/2 inches it seems too big for a bit. Cinch buckle, perhaps?

Thanks for your help. The tip on it made me think it was buckle related as well.

Without a doubt part of a bit...............................
Size and Thickness of the Rings: Rings are generally 2-5 inches in diameter, most commonly ranging in the 2.5-3 inch range that is legal for horse show competition. Rings for bradoons are smaller than those used on a plain snaffle. Rings may be larger on gag bits, especially if the rider wishes to increase the severity. Thickness ranges from 10-23mm, with most found at 15mm.

Take Care,
Pete

Absolutely a horsegear snaffle-bit (actually, half of one), as Kuger rightly said, and nothing else. The little ring on the smaller end of the arm broke, which is why it was thrown away. Compare it with this photo.
