Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what this could be? We found it washed up on a beach on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. It’s around 2inch in diameter and is made of some kind of metal. It's possible that it’s just some tat that's washed up but i’m quite intrigued to find out what it is. I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks

Welcome :hello:

Looking like 3 missing attachments on the reverse, but no idea what it attached to, but doesn't look more than 100 years old

Yeah I noticed the three attachment marks but I’m still no wiser. When we first found it, it was a lovely colour green from being in the sea for however long. Oh well, thanks anyway.

Ah, now that would be interesting if it were. Even more intrigued now.
Thanks MacKay :icon_thumright:

I thought a Scottish rose or possibly Tudor Rose? :icon_scratch:

Tudor roses had 6 petals which represented a combination of the two houses. Yorkists and Lancastrians had 5 petals, red or white roses. That is why 6 petal pink rose was the new and improved symbol for the Tudors.

Right, I know what you mean, although most of the images of a Tudor Rose do have only 5 petals? :icon_scratch: I still have no idea what it is and probably never will but thanks anyway.
