This belongs to a family member who acquired it from an estate of a deceased relative. Definitely looks old! Solid and hand carved and all from one piece of wood. Can't figure the intent of the object... is it part of something that was bigger? Like a staff? Object is about 16-18 inches long. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks spade2.webpspade1.webp

Is there any wear on the end of the tip?

I remember as a military brat growing up in Europe, almost everybody I knew had a decorative wooden shovel and pitchfork hanging on their walls or leaning in a corner. Got to wonder if this might be part of one of those sets.

A symbol of strength and potential, it was also a Nordic and Celtic symbol of fertility, and immortality. The god Thor's Life Tree was oak. Druids believed the consumption of acorns would help see the future, and the word Druid can be translated as "Oak Knowledge". Some Oak Trees can live to be 1000 years old.Sep 2, 2017 " quoted from some website my giddy aunt. Forgive the informality

Your second pic is a bee hive. Gary

Some1 could explain this symbolism to us probably.

It's the veil in the temple opening to reveal the "Holy of Holies" or the most Holy place. Exodus 26:31-34

Maybe its an acorn. But maybe it also represents a veiled beehive...

Rug beaters are usually flexible metal. With a net like form so dust can actualy fly through the tool.
Using a short, unflexible, rounded peice of wood. Like a club. That would be a lot of work. And the wood would probably snap.
