I built a deck several years ago and I used something that looked similar to seat the support posts in concrete. Turn it over and a 4X4 square post might fit right into it. The holes may be so the concrete will seep into the bottom and hold it better than the two screws. A guess? Monty

Who knows? this one is around 12 '' I would say.

I too think it did. I think the current 'economic climate' took the s away from scrap. However, I am forever the optimist, watch The World bounce back!
