I found this (eyeballed it), at an old dump.
I first thought it was a 'large canteen', but it has a spot on the bottom where it was 'soldered to something".
It is threaded, has one rounded side, the other has a rim.
Maybe an old auto part?

Well maybe it’s a fuel tank for a kerosene water heater. The top valve is missing.
I have seen some like it. They have a lid that has a tip that lets the fuel flow out after it is inverted. They used them on old water heaters.
Best I can do.

Did someone mention banjos? I know banjos. I don't see a banjo. I don't hear a banjo (but I wish I did).
