Any Idea's as to what this is from or for what ? SOLVED Thanks

Dug this today.. I can't think of what it may have been used for ??
It's about the size of a playing card.
Threaded hole on one side and just a plane hole on the other.
It's made of brass...
Both sides are identical
Any guesses.....

Looks like it has something to do with a cable going around the grooved area, possibly forming a loop, maybe threaded end was attached to a stretching thingy, like a turn-buckle. I don't really know, just my WAG.......NGE

Maybe some type of hanger that would thread onto an "all-thread" that hung from the ceiling? Or maybe a radiator, etc. pressure relief valve?

It is the internal gate to a large gate valve....3" or 4".

Looks like the inside of an old gate valve. Tony

It is defiinitly the inside gate from a gate valve, it is inserted to the body of a valve, and the handle shaft screws into the gate through a packing gland.

Definitely. (not the best pic but great ID!) Its from a standard modern large water shut-off valve. (water, not ammonia) such as used for a swimming pool.

The gate moves down when the shaft is turned clockwise and up counterclockwise.

I agree BCH, not the best pic, but it was one that showed a cut-away of the inside of the valve and the threading...I should've removed the ammonia valve at the bottom of the pic. The gate DP found is definately for water.
Here's a much better idea of the real deal.

And here's a link that shows cut-aways of all types of valves. http://www.bayporttechnical.com/cut-away_valves.htm

Yep, probably the same but ammonia eats brass and copper. Ammonia needs galv. iron pipe as far as I know. Good ID :icon_thumright:

Ill repost your old pic that shows the gate inside.gate valve water.jpg

Just replaced one on my sump outlet recently.(newer cheap PVC valve) Gate valve indeed. But kegerator-adaptation is all we're really interested in now that you brought it up.
