This is a front and back view of whatever this thing is. It is non-ferrus. Seems to be brass and the rod is soldered into the button looking portion. The rod is 1/8" and the other part is 11/16" in diameter at the widest part. This was found where no Model T could get to. Area found was a Yankee Camp close to Fort Morgan near Mobile Bay. The camp was the base for a land attack on the fort. It is a sandy dunes area -year was 1864. I thought it might be something to do with an artillery shell primer?

Model A or model T Ford Radiator over flow ?
This is just wild guess.
Looks like something I have seen before.
Could be from grain liquor still

My first thought was that it was a burner from a camp stove. Any tiny holes in the "bell" shaped part?

none and the bend in the rod looks intentional

Is the back open and hollow (bell like) or have a back (like a button)? Maybe a picture may help (maybe not)

Looks like if you turn it(the knob), it (the rod)would lock something.

No. The back is flat and smooth with the solid rod comming out at a hard right angle. The rod's length is about an inch. The rod's end is smooth and flat , not cutoff with dikes like the soldered end.
