The doll is a bisque china 'Frozen Charlotte' (the boys were called Frozen Charlies), and they were made and were popular circa 1850-1920. They were called frozen because the entire doll was one piece with non-movable arms or legs. They were made in both glazed and unglazed; most had painted hair and facial features. Yours was probably painted too, but rubbed off in the sand/surf.

Interesting find, Breezie

Not a silly idea - those stones are worth getting valued professionally. Get at least two opinions.

The green stones maybe natural FLUORITE; both the color and shape seems to fit from what I can see in your pic. The examples below were taken from the Internet, but I have several in my personal collection that I can photograph if needed. Fluorite is fluorescent and will glow under a black light, so if you have a bulb left over from the hippie days, check it out. Be sure to wash your hands after handling fluorite.

As far as the faceted amber stone is concerned, I'd like to know the hardness. If you have a piece of sharp quartz, see if the quartz will 'bite' it.

Breezie, I'm sending you a cape and a mask. I know you can fly, you just haven't tried it yet.
You could give the Kovels a run for their money and I'd read you first!

Ahhh, Gopher, thank you for the kudos, but I can't take all the credit. We've got to blame my Momma for some of it. I use to accuse her of raising me in a museum. She loved antiques all of her life, and we had a house full. Also, I've owned/operated an antique shop for 38 years, so I see alot of stuff come and go. And at my age, things that I used/had are now antiques! LOL I get tickled sometimes when I'm surfing Ebay, and see the title as 'Antique' so & so, and I think, dawg, I had one of those when I was a kid! :laughing7: Again, thank you for that vote of confidence, Breezie

Nice finds Steve71. I think I like the "Frozen Charlotte" the best. Unusual find.

Breezie - I've been called an antique!!

The green stones in his picture look more the shade of the Candy Apple green Emeralds that Brasil sends to North Carolina to salt their mines with

Nick, Below is a pic I made of fluorite and a 'Brazil' emerald like those used to salt the mines here in NC. Both are from my collection. Breezie

Breezie, I don't have any fluorite to compare. But here is a pic of a few of the emeralds I have that show decent colors. What mines down there have you tried? I went to Sheffield for a day (that's where I got the emeralds from), however we didn't like the way the people who worked at that mine treated the quest. So we tried Mason's Rubie and Sapphire mine, they treated us like family so we spent the remainder of the trip mining there. I have even returned to Mason's since then. But I haven't had any luck with Jewelers in Va. wanting anything to do with the stones. I have over 300ct. raw weight of rubies and sapphires, and over a thousand of those emeralds. I have 2 rubies and 2 sapphires that I got cut while I was down there but still no luck on selling them. Have you had any luck with the stones from down there or are they mainly for tourist and keepsakes?

Have never found a stone worth selling, however have got a few stones cut over the years. My favorite cut stone is the star saphire found in my yard :icon_thumright:

IronSpike; you're right; it is adventurine. I grabbed it in a hurry. I've got some emeralds at the house, but I'm at the shop now, and will delete that pic, and add another this evening.

That Star Sapphire is absolutely gorgeous! How did you find it; was the mineral just lying in your yard?

Thanks for the good eye, Breezie

Nick, Several years ago, we did some mining in Boone, NC. After that time, we decided to sell 'Gem Bags,' so I order wholesale mixed raw gems to salt the bags. It's really alot of fun.

As far as finding a jewelry store to set your stones, if you will GOOGLE that in Boone, NC, you will find several places. Give them a call, and they can probably give you a guesstimate on the price to have them cut/polished etc. and set. Breezie
