what do you think the age of this key is.
Shotgun shell for size.

I have one that is real similar. Found it at a colonial site. Same place I found hammer from a flint lock gun. I think they made these type of keys for a long time. Maybe someone can date. Nice find.

Thanks, I would love to find a flint sometime. This was also found at a colonial site, the only problem is that people still lived there in the 1800's

Cool, Your saying it is 1700's? Makes since considering that there was supposed to be a house there in the 1700's. Friend says 1930's, it looks way too crude for that. I found one in a 1930's trash dump, it looked very new with iron teeth and brass frame.

I would guess 1800's to turn of the century, but who knows, it might be older!
