Found underneath this tree root where civil war artifacts have been found. It almost feels like a metal half of a ping pong ball. Not heavy and rings up at a 69 on 18khz.

The three grooves. If you know for sure I'd love to know.

I could be wrong, but three rings usually indicates Union, although Rebs used them too. If it had no rings, or 2 rings I'd say likely Confederate. Good job though!

Awesome thanks for the info! My knowledge on this is limited to what I find on google.

Since we are on the topic. Would you say these are the same type of bullet? The one on the left is a carved bullet found at a different site. The one in the right is the fired bullet I found today.

Thanks callicles, yep going to head out again tomorrow morning and really take my time in the vicinity of where I found that bullet. There is a a lot of iron.

Dig everything! Then when you're about 10 minutes from passing out, switch to discriminate mode (if you have that feature). Good luck!
